Latin Name: Azardirachta indica
Indian Name: Neem
Habitat: All over India. The plant is found throughout India, Burma and other tropical countries. In India it is common in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, M.P., U.P., and Tamil Nadu.
Useful in: The plant Neem has been acclaimed for its anti bacterial and anti fungal properties. Bark is useful in leprosy, skin disease, leucoderma. Leaves are useful in leprosy , skin diseases, leucoderma.

Nimbin, nimbidin and related compounds possess anti viral activity. As a non-edible oil, it is used for soap making and for manufacture of oleic and stearic acids. It is indicated in rheumatism and also as pesticide and in medicated soaps for skin disease.
