| Latin name: Emblica officinalis
Indian name: Amla
Habitat: It is a small or medium size tree found in all deciduous forests of India . It is also found in Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
Useful in: Amla fruits are largely used in Indian medicine. It is used as an acrid, diuretic, refrigerant and laxative. The leaves are used as fodder. Alcoholic extract of the fruits is anti- viral. It is a popular drug ingredient of 'Trifla' and 'Chyavanprash'.
